Just to let you [Anneli] and Dirk know that all is going fine with us. All scars are gone and people who have not seen us for a while are wondering how good we both look. Sept 20, 2007. He had some lipo, she had breast surgery:

We have arrived back in the UK today safe and well. I just heard from friends that they said that today was officially the last summers day!! We miss Cape Town already! Hope you are all well and thanks again for an excellent service. It was a pleasure dealing with you and we will see you again next year.

I'm sure you receive lots of "thanks" post operatively from people, and here is just another to add to the list! People have all sorts of reasons for undergoing cosmetic surgery, but the one thing they have in common is the trust they put in the surgeon. Although we may feel prepared for the journey, it is an emotional leap of faith, that only the end result can guarantee.

Thank you for being a surgeon with fine principles and one who cares about his skills, and the final outcome. You're also supported by an amazing group of staff, whom we want to thank too for their care, kindness and reassurance.

My son was 6 months old when he had the operation done, he was born with a slight cleft lip and you fixed it beautifully at Red Cross Childrens Hospital. My son is now 5½ years old and his lip looks beautiful.

Hi Dirk ,

Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work , I am pleased with the
result .

It was quite an experience to come down to Capetown and to undergo surgery
by myself ,

Yourself and Shona acted very professionally as well as making me feel very
relaxed both in and out of hospital . [Shonah was my assistant at the time]

I feel Shona really went the extra mile for me and was always there when I
needed something .

Many, many, many thanks, yet again for being so great, understanding and totally sweet...especially those first days when I was so fractious...and felt so sad..!! LOL!
The journey home went really well...and fast, I thought.
I read 10 books while I was sunning myself by the pool at your great guest house. I loved it, and thanks for letting me stay there. I think it's marvellous...So practical!

I am so pleased with the results. I feel fantastic, I really do. The lips still, (especially the top lip) has a little way to go, and become a little less pouty, but even this morning I saw the slightest of change. It's very subtle every day !

I will contact you again re. the breast surgery....and see what time I can fit this in. Might be sooner that I thought !

Just a quick update on how things have been since my return to the UK. After the initial worries about the prolonged swelling to my face and slightly distorted lips I am happy to report that they have now settled down ( as you reassuringly said they would ) and the result and accompanying comments from friends and family has been wonderful . They were all complimentary about the naturaIness of the look so I have been dishing out your name to all who have been praising your work . In fact ' Doing a Dirk' has become an affectionate synonym for any questions they have about their own potential for future surgical procedures, or merely to clandestinely ask if someone they know has 'done a Dirk'.

On the lipo-body /thigh front there is a marked improvement in my silhouette and the fit of my clothes so I will definitely be returning sometime next year to see if you can sculpt things a little more and to see if you can work a little more of your 'magic' especially to the 'flank' hip area' .
