Dec 2006: (after breast augmentation and upper blepharoplasty)

I hope youre well, Im fine here. All healing well, my boobs look great and there is a huge improvement in my eyes (I dont look asleep anymore and someone asked me if I had a facelift!)

Received Feb 2006, 7 months after blepharoplasties, face and neck lipo:

Hi, Dr Lazarus,

Firstly, thank you so much for doing a great job with my surgery. My
recovery was brilliant – I didn’t have a minute’s pain. Nothing. I still
have all the Myprodols in hand and untouched. Other than the frustration of
not being able to eat probably or lie comfortably with the head support, I
was A-ok in no time. And I could see the improvement in the swelling and
bruising day by day. Really amazing considering how sore my face looked –
quite scary!

I’m most pleased with the results of the upper blephs op. My eyes are
symmetrical and natural looking, and I don’t look so tired anymore. I can
really feel and see the change, and love the way my eyes shine, especially
since my make-up shows more. And the incision line is barely visible – it’s
amazing. I can’t tell you how chuffed I am.

I’m also happy with the results of the lipo in my cheeks and under my chin,
but my cheeks are still quite round – I suppose that’s just the shape of my
face. I’m still pleased with the improvement, though, and my jaw line is
definitely more defined.

Again, thank you so much for organizing my surgery on my tight schedule, and
for making me a very happy camper – much appreciated.

Best wishes for a successful and happy 2006.

Jan 06 2006, about 18 months after facial rejuvenation, including fat transfers to lips:

Hello again,

I am still feeling fantastic and I must write again to say how happy I am with the surgery. It took a good 4 months for it all to settle down in to a very natural look, and I remember how impatient I was, but you were right, it was a question of just relax and wait. I look fantastic... My lips settled of course, and I feel slightly embarrassed now thinking of how paranoid I was initially, seeing my swollen mouth..Grrrr!! Sorry!
My lips are slightly fuller, they look great.. but look absolutely normal..I am so grateful. Thanks again! You were most kind also to look in on me regulary at the Coach house. Thanks again. I have written to a patient of yours and relayed my experience, and she has now been to you and is back in the UK, and has told me how very very happy she is with her results.

Dec 21 2005 (after facelift)

Hi Dirk,

Has it been 14 months already since I was out in Cape Town? Anyhow apart from saying hi' I just wanted to give you this years progress report and to say all the
sensations, feelings, numbness and swelling from the procedures you performed have settled down wonderfully ( as you reassured me they would ) and the on going results have been fantastic. The feedback from friends has been so encouraging.

Dec 13 2005 (Neck lipo)

I also realize that E does not like computers and cannot email so here I am. He is happy with your plastic surgery on his neck. It has turned out great for him. He wore the neck collar for a week or so at night but not in the day. He stopped for a week and then wore it for another week at night but now he is happy with everything that he had done in his trip to Capetown.
My son and his wife and her parents have started to book a trip next May to Capetown.

Dec 2, 2005 (I did a facelift about 18 months ago on this patient)

The bilateral upper eyelid ptosis [done by another surgeon] went very well, but the bruising is much greater than when you did my face lift. I told my surgeon about the face lift and she was pleasantly surprised about the lack of scars. She wanted to know more about you and I gave her your web site. She hopes to visit Cape Town in the near future and hopes to drop in and see you. Look forward to seeing you soon.

Oct 18, 2005, after Perlane/Restylane,

Lips looking fab! They are back to normal and look natural but slightly fuller. Very comfortable and not lumpy at all. Looking forward to the next round....

Oct 16, 2005

Dear Dr. Lazarus,
Thank you and Anneli for making my trip such a success. The trip home was fine ,face is healing well. I am still wearing the horrid HEADBAND at night, but my chin is less lumpy every day. My friends and family are all impressed with the minimal scaring and natural results. Even those who questioned my choice of going to S.Africa are having to eat their words! Here are some sans make up photos. Thanks Again,

May 12, 2005

Hi Dirk, no problems since my return. My bruises have faded to an attractive
shade of yellow and I only have some slight swelling. Please tell me I can give
up the headband with a clear conscience. It has been the worst part of the
whole thing which should give anyone confidence in your skills,or miracles.
Many thanks again, you made the whole experience so much better than I
expected.
Kind regards

April 10, 2005:

Hello Dr Dirk:
A belated thank you for the work you did on my face in January and for your patience in answering all my dithery questions. I had lots of comments on how well I looked on my return to _______ and felt very smug that no-one guessed I had surgery.

15 March, 2005

I am very happy with the results of the blepharoplasty. Not a single person had noticed any evidence of surgery. The result is completely natural looking. I was somewhat anxious initially after seeing so many American patients during the course of my work here who often have such obvious signs of cosmetic surgery.

I will be returning to Cape Town mid April and hope to see you some time after that.

13.08.2004

Dear Dr. Dirk,

It is nearly 2 years (December 2002) since you did my face-lift & I am still
very pleased with the results.

Delia

Face lift, eyes, forehead (posted 20 July 2004)

I would like to express to you how pleased I am with my facial rejuvenation. Even though it was done in phases, because of my conservative approach, the results are excellent. This is due to your skill, dedication and professionalism. Now, when I look in the mirror I see me reflecting back, alert and energetic with a bright future ahead. Who could ask for more?

Dear Dirk,

As promised a few photo's of my face. I have been well and have had no problems. I am pleased with the result, but I do not take a very good photo! Any way I hope you and all your staff are well and would like to thank you for looking after me so well.

Best regards,

Vivien

You are constantly in my mind after the totally delightful experience I had in South Africa. It sounds silly to say an operation could be pleasurable, but it was so, and continues to be extremely interesting and indeed life-changing. I shall be more than happy to tell Diane, and any other prospective patients, that the total experience of Cape Town (the scenic splendor, the nice, helpful people, etc., and of course the affordability of it all) and your fine-tuned surgery were a highlight unexpected at this point in my so far not-unexciting life.

Now to details of my feelings about the surgery since I left. I went to London and thence to Switzerland, where I still am. I had absolutely no pain during the surgery, and virtually none since. There has naturally been swelling, at first grotesque as you remember, very gradually decreasing and slight traces still remain. By the time I got to London, approx.10 days post-operative, I looked terrific (I thought, and so did my daughter). I enjoyed my puffy, rather Ubangi lips, and am sad that they have nearly disappeared although the result is exactly what I asked for - wrinkles are gone and a tiny increase in fullness. For a while, I looked and felt 30-ish, albeit with a double chin; the latter has disappeared with the swelling, and I seem to be settling into a 45 to 50-ish look, which is probably more appropriate - the important thing, to me, is that I think I look pleasant and attractive. The down side of this is, I am getting a lot of construction workers' whistles, and boy scouts no longer rush to help me across the street.

You are, indeed, a master surgeon if my scars, or lack there of are any testimony. They have disappeared. And for the first time since my first surgery, I have real ear lobes - how did you do that? Would I do it again? A thousand times yes! Would I recommend it to anyone else? Absolutely.

Once again, thank you. If you would like me to describe the experience in detail for any skittish prospective patient, I would be glad to do so, including the reasons why I chose you and felt secure from the first consultation; the kindness of your staff; the effectiveness of the anaesthesia, under which I felt no pain and recovered from almost instantly to walk out at 12:30, fully conscious, from a procedure which has put friends of mine in the hospital over night.

And I look forward to having whatever else done that I can think of, as an excuse to visit South Africa again (and I'll be sending you photos of my daughter, as well).

Thought I would send you this photograph to let you see I am wearing pretty well - I compared this photograph to the one I sent to you exactly one year ago (and oiy yoi yoi the difference) and I have no regrets (never have had) and would recommend ps to anyone who was thinking about it.

**(I didn't have the nerve to get the boobies out to let him photograph them to let you see how they are getting on - but take it from me that they are looking absolutely fantastic).

I should be over in Cape Town before long and will definitely check in.

Please give my regards to Cathy,
and my kindest regards to you,

Dear Dirk

"Sorry we've taken so long to get back to you.

Just a note to say how happy ******* and I are with the operation. When we got back to Switzerland a lot of people remarked how relaxed I was looking without being able to pin-point why. Only a very few people noticed why. "

"Its been almost 11 months since I had my eyes done and I must say what an excellent job you did. I've been on a high all this year."

From a patient from California who had eyelid and face rejuvenation:

"Yes, things are improving. In fact, I'm very pleased. What a difference! Baggy eyelids creep up on you slowly, so one gradually forgets what it looks like to have visible eyes. Several people have asked me if I am wearing green color contacts. I don't think the color has been noticeable for several years.

Over all, I think the surgery took 15 years off my face. The change in the neck and chin line, as well as fuller lips, made more difference than I would have imagined."

and another from California on whom I did a facelift and blepharoplasty:

I think of your comment about perfectly healthy people going into a hospital for the purpose of being injured so that they will heal looking better. Absurd in the abstract, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. It took a short time to heal, and now I am so much happier with how I look. Ah, vanity.........

I went to a retirement party for an old friend last week-end. There were quite a few people there I have known for up to 25 years. But, most of them I have not seen in the last few years as I travel a lot with my work. It was quite fun having so many people comment on how good - and how young - I looked.

I have 3 younger sisters, all of whom think the surgery you did is terrific. Two of them are contemplating having some done themselves. So, we are discussing a future trip to South Africa.
