Dear Dr. Lazarus,

It’s 14 months since you carried out surgery on my face, tummy and breasts and I am really pleased with the outcome. I intended to write sooner and feel embarrassed that I haven’t since you, Anneli and everyone showed such care for me whilst I was in Cape Town. The surgery and the whole experience of my stay has made a very good lasting impression on me.

My mini face lift, brow lift and upper and lower eye bags removal has made my face neat and tidy again. No longer do I look in the mirror tightening the jowls and neck area with my fingers and agonising over whether ‘to lift’ or ‘not to lift’. Now I’ve had it done, I wish I hadn’t waited until I was nearly 60. The decision to have surgery on my face was really difficult for me and I’m so glad I decided to come over to see you as the results are very natural. You were caring right the way through, from my first consultation with you by email, to the first consultation in Cape Town, through to the last day of my four week stay.

My family were aware I went over to have surgery but everyone else just says I look so well and young these days. I also changed my hair slightly and style of clothes after the surgery. This threw people off the scent! My family say I look more like me, not less like me. - More as I used to look. Nothing is tight or pulled back, I just look natural. The incisions are invisible with the exception of the upper eyelid which is only visible if someone looks hard when the eyes are shut. The front of ear incisions, chin (for the lipo), and lower eye bag surgery are all completely invisible and the brow incisions are invisible within the hair line.

The lippo on the tum was the easiest of the after-recovery and just felt as if I had done a lot of sit-ups. Although I wasn’t that much overweight - my stomach was! You were right when you said I didn’t need a tummy tuck- the lippo was enough even at my age. Now trousers fit on the waist, and I’m so much more comfortable without carrying 3 pounds of fat on my stomach and I certainly look a great deal better.

Finally the piece-de-resistance was the removal and replacement of the very old breast implants and the uplift of the nipples. Well, the shape you have given me is absolutely wonderful !!! They are better than when the original were first done in England and I now have a cleavage which I never had before. The scars are still noticeable but that is a small price to pay for the dramatic improvement of the shape of the breasts.

You advised me appropriately on the time I should allow for the recovery, taking account of my age and the multiple procedures - both before my travel to Cape Town and during my stay there - so I was well prepped for everything.

Well we are back in HK and all is well, I am feeling great and I think everything is healing well. My breast scars have been a bit itchy the past two days, I am not sure if that is normal. There is no infection as they are not hot or red and I don't have a fever?

I just wanted to thank you very much for taking such good care of me. It was quite a big step for me to have these ops [mastopexy and liposuction] done but I am very pleased that I did them both and I am sure I will be very happy with the outcome.

I would also just like to compliment you on ALL your staff, every one of them treated me with such care and respect and made the whole thing a wonderful experience. You truly have a great team.

One of my past patients writing to a prospective patient:

I took the advise on the implants and size that Dr Lazarus gave and REALLY couldn't be happier with the results... I had the surgery in June 06, Dr Lazarus actually placed larger implants that what was originally discussed and to be honest I am SO grateful that he did, otherwise I would defiantly have regretted not going bigger. It only took 2 days rest before I was up and about and on the 3rd day after the surgery I was up on Table mountain taking in all the sites...

Once I had the surgery I loved my new breasts, after a couple of weeks it felt like I had always had them, and now they move, feel and actually look like REAL breasts.

Side effects are that I do have a little numbness underneath the nipple (just above scars) and the nipple is only slightly tender (you should probably expect that they will be tender for the first few months). The scars are barley visible.

I had the procedure on the Monday, Table mountain on the Thursday and left for the UK on the Saturday, returning to work on the Monday... [Quicker than I like - I recommend a min stay of 8-10 days and I usually do not operate if I know the patients intend travelling so soon after surgery.]

I went from a 34B to a 34DD. As I am nearly 6ft tall this was a great decision that Dr Lazaus made.

Yourself and Dirk made me feel very comfortable and welcome, and even humored me during my hypochondriac moments when I thought I was dying. Me and Dave still laugh about that now.

We both wish we were still in sunny Cape Town, enjoying fresh seafood and a bottle of wine down by the waterfront. We enjoyed our holiday so much and shall definitely return someday. England is grey, cloudy and temperatures are below 0 at times. How depressing.

Still, very very happy with my new boobs!! In fact so happy I am completely back to normal.....I hope I don't do myself damage!

Can I go back to normal gym routine. I have done a cycling class and felt perfectly fine. Also tried a Body Pump class and felt ok too. Should I be taking it easy. I didn't use as high weights as I would normally use though.

Somebody told me I should not do excercise as internal stitches may not be healed yet???? It's now been 4 weeks since surgery.

I hope this email finds you well.

Arrived home safe and sound this morning. Feeling great, better than I ever expected just 9 days after surgery. I am off to the gym tomorrow for some light exercise to ease myself back into my old routine!

As I said to you, being 23 and the thought of having surgery in South Africa all alone was pretty daunting but I must say that my stay at the coach house, the friendly but yet professional welcome from Shonah and yourself made it feel like being home from home.

The operation was on a need to know basis back here in the UK as I had breast augmentation for my own personal reasons and I do not like to feel the need to explain myself to anyone. As discussed I wanted to improve the shape of my breast rather than the size. I was very particular about staying in proportion to my figure although I was a C cup to start with which was already fairly proportionate. I was very skeptical that you would be able to meet my requirements without my breasts looking too big or unnatural however you proved me wrong. After long inspections I cannot fault the result so far, the size is perfect and also the shape - thank you so much.

Breast Augmentation (posted 14 April 2004)

When I decided to have breast augmentation done, no-one knew except my husband and I. I wasn't even sure whether I should tell my mom. I wasn't sure how she would react to such news. She is not prejudiced or negative, but I thought best to keep it to myself. When I arrived in Johannesburg again and saw my mom after the long and wonderful holiday, I just couldn't help but share my wonderful experience with her.

Well, when I started to tell her what I had done and what a wonderful plastic surgeon you are, she actually got tears in her eyes! You see, during the week of the operation, she mentioned to a friend of hers that she wishes she could do something for me, so that my breasts could actually look like something. She knew what my breasts looked like and we both felt that my breasts looked 80 years old and I looked 29 (well, nearly 30!). She was thrilled and actually proud that I took such a BIG step.

Once again, you and your staff are most warm-hearted, friendly and at the same time professional.

I am actually writing to inquire on behalf of my sister about liposuction to her tummy and the top back part of her legs.

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know how all is progressing after my breast reduction surgery. But first and foremost I AM THRILLED. I have never before had so much fun (or spent so much money!) buying underwear - it really is very exciting!

I have had very little pain at all - in fact, after the first 48 hours I needed no further pain medication. I was worried that my newly positioned nipples might shoot off under pressure in the plane on the way home, which would have been a bit of a shock for the eighty year old rabbi sitting in front of me, but, hey, it never happened. Almost a shame, as it would have livened the flight up no end!

The scars are healing really very nicely.

Anyway, just wanted to check in. THANK YOU to you, Cathie and the staff at the clinic who have made the whole experience (almost) enjoyable! The results most certainly are.

Thought I would send you this photograph to let you see I am wearing pretty well - I compared this photograph to the one I sent to you exactly one year ago (and oiy yoi yoi the difference) and I have no regrets (never have had) and would recommend ps to anyone who was thinking about it.

**(I didn't have the nerve to get the boobies out to let him photograph them to let you see how they are getting on - but take it from me that they are looking absolutely fantastic).

You probably won't remember me, but I will NEVER forget you. You performed a tummy tuck and breast augmentation on me last year April. It has been exactly one year since the operation and I cannot tell you how happy I am with the results. I have had endless compliments and my self esteem has improved tremendously, thanks to you. I promised you before I left your offices at my last appointment that I will either come and see you again to show you the results or send you a pic. I cannot show you in person as my sis who lived in Cape Town at the time has moved to London and so the next best thing to do is to send you a pic. I have never felt so confident of myself before as I do now. The difference is quite noticable though no one has realised what it is exactly. They all think I look gorgeous due to "loosing weight".
