Neck and Face Liposuction

Neck liposuction may be performed in young patients who have a fatty neck or in older patients in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures. Sometimes, especially as part of a facial rejuvenation, I will carry the liposuction on to the lower face or up above the nasolabial fold (the line from the nose to the mouth - areas in green in the adjacent figure). Neck and face lipo can be combined with other facial rejuvenation or enhancement surgery. For men, an anterior cervicoplasty is a good option and can be done alone or with neck lipo. Liposuction will not only remove excess fat, but also cause some tightening skin.

A neck or face liposuction is performed as a day case procedure (in and out on the same day) in my own private facility. Surgery is performed under sedation and regional and local anaesthesia. For neck liposuction, 5 tiny (2 mm) incisions are made: one under each earlobe, one along the jaw line on each side and one in the crease under the chin. Following the liposuction, these incisions are not sutured, they are simply taped to leave a practically invisible scar. Neck liposuction takes less than an hour to perform.

I use a syringe liposculpture technique with very fine cannulae to remove the fat from the neck and to shape the neck (and face). Surgery is performed in the morning and you will recover in the afternoon. Once you are up and about and I have assessed you as being ready, you will be discharged home.

You will be given painkillers, but post-operative pain is not severe. You will also be given a neck band which should be worn for a week post-operatively. Bruising will last about a week or maybe a little longer. Out of town patients can return home after a week.

 

Complications which can occur include damage to underlying structures, irregular result, inadequate or excess fat removal and nerve injury. The result is long lasting and provided weight is maintained you should be happy with the result.

Neck and face lipo will give you a permanent improvement in your appearance.
